Rearcross U-13's 5 - Borrisokane 1

Rearcross U-13's clashed with Borrisokane at the Quarter Final stages of the U-13 Cup at Rearcross FC Grounds on Thursday evening and booked their place in the last four with a 5-1 result over the visiting side. Rearcross signalled intent early on with good attacking football and opened their account on 14 minutes when Stephen Rochford converted from the spot following a pushing infringement inside the box. Borrisokane upped the ante and forced a good save out of Cathal Kennedy with a well struck free kick effort. Stephen Rochford was in scintillating form throughout and fired wide of the post midway through the half and then added his second of the day with a superb finish follow excellent approach play. Borrisokane applied the pressure towards the end of half, but it remained two nil to the Rea boys at the half time whistle. Stephen Rochford was the standout player again in the second period and completed his hat-trick nine minutes in with a well worked goal. Borrisokane were thrown a lifeline on the 45 minute mark when Conor Ryan headed home from a corner kick. The home side picked it up again as man of the match Stephen Rochford restored the Rearcross advantage after nipping in at speed to tuck the ball home from close range. Patrick Dawson wrapped it up late on with a converted penalty after Stephen Rochford was impeded in the box. Rearcross will now face Nenagh AFC in the semi-final next Monday evening in Rearcross.
